Our team is composed of college-educated minority professionals who have firsthand experience navigating resource-challenged environments. Driven by a commitment to empowerment, we strive to share knowledge, provide resources, and uplift individuals in low-income communities. Our mission is to collaborate with link-minded individuals to foster community development and create lasting positive change in Charlotte's underserved neighborhoods.
Our History
Big Wave Family founded in 2016 emerged from the shared concern of a group of compassionate individuals in a major urban center. Witnessing the struggles of the unhoused and the low socio-economic community, we decided to take action.
We began by organizing grassroots efforts, providing meals to the unhoused population in Uptown Charlotte. This simple act of kindness soon grew into a full-fledged nonprofit with a clear mission: to address hunger, homelessness, and lack of resources within the community.
Over the years, this organization established partnerships with local businesses, churches, and volunteers, enabling us to expand our programs. We set up drop off locations for resources, collect toiletries for different annual drives, and outreach services to provide not just immediate relief but also opportunities for rehabilitation and support.
Through our dedication, we not only feed the unhoused but also helped countless individuals transition toward stable housing and improved their overall well-being. Our advocacy work and community involvement furthered our mission by addressing the root causes of homelessness and advocating for policy changes.
Today, our nonprofit remains a vital pillar of the community, serving as a beacon of hope for the low socio-economic population, embodying the transformative power of compassion and collective action.

The word "Family" is essential to all and is a universal word that most can relate too. Families are fundamental social units not just blood-related but also friends by emotional bonds and shared experiences. The Founders are using emotional intelligence addressing universal trauma and breaking generational barriers.
